I’ve only been blogging for about a little over a year and a half, but I was lucky enough to meet a group of Toronto film critics and bloggers who have been really great and supportive of my goal with this blog.
I was invited to vote in the 2nd Annual CAST Awards by James McNally, the founder of TO Screenshots. The CAST (Cinema Appreciation Society of Toronto) Awards are open to film lovers living in Toronto. Forty critics and film buffs were asked to rank up to 25 of our favorite films screened in theatres in Toronto this past year, and after a tabulation, asked to vote again on the most mentioned films.
I’m so glad that I attended TIFF because almost all of the new movies I saw this year, except for a handful, were during the festival. What can I say, I’m pretty true to the classics!
However, my top 10 for 2011 were:
1. Starbuck
2. Shame
3. The Story of Film: An Odyssey
4. The Artist
5. The Adventures of Tintin
6. Bridesmaids
7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2
8. The Ides of March
9. The Muppets
10. Blue Valentine
11. Drive
12. Super 8
13. Meek’s Cutoff
